A 15-year-old has conquered Estonia! Podium on debut!

15-year-old Hubert Laskowski made a great impression in his debut at the Estonian championships. In his first start in the north of Europe, he won podium places in his classes!

Lõuna-Eesti Ralli was a round of the Estonian Rally Championship, but what was more important for Hubert was another part of the battle for the championship titles in Latvia. This second series is one of the young driver’s priorities this year, and he has done fantastically well in these championships too.

Hubert started the competition with a powerful kick and won the first special section in his class. He also scored twice a third and once a second place on the first day, which allowed him to end the day as vice-leader of his classes.

‘I am very satisfied with the first day of competition. I was the fastest on the opening section, which doesn’t happen often. The sections were high-speed, and we had a great time driving them. There were quite a few peaks on which you have to choose your track even before you reach them. I love such challenges! I hope it will be even better tomorrow,’ said Hubert after the first part of the competition.

A fascinating battle for the podium marked the second day. High-speed and technical sections and Hubert’s great shape eventually resulted in third place in the Latvian and Estonian juniors and the lowest step of the podium in class 4 in the Estonian and Latvian championships. The fact that Hubert was the only non-Estonian driver who put up a fight is a testament to the fierceness of the competition. He was only 1.7 seconds behind the second-place finisher. He won the podium by beating his rivals by 3.5 seconds. The second foreign driver was slower than Hubert by over three minutes!

‘The fight was extremely exciting and fierce. The last section of the rally was my best ever. I love such fierce competition. It requires us to have the maximum level of concentration and to show our skills at their best. In this way, I grow much faster! As usual, I used Pirelli tyres, which performed well in the changing conditions. We had everything, from dry asphalt and gravel to wet and muddy surfaces. In one section, we started the race in the wet, drove the middle section in the dry, and finished in the mud. I am very satisfied with this start and already keep my fingers crossed for the next performance! We still have a lot to win,’ said Hubert at the finish line of the rally.

Hubert’s right-hand seat was occupied by the extremely experienced Michał Kuśnierz, who interestingly also made his debut in Estonia.

‘Despite my extensive experience, I have never competed in Estonia! The sections were reminiscent of those in Scandinavia. There were many bends going over peaks, and there was significant speed on the speedometer. Hubert once again proved that he adapts quickly to new conditions and drove a great rally. Certainly the very fierce competition contributed to this. We did our best and we can honestly say that we enjoyed a great event ,’ said Michał Kuśnierz.
