15-year-old driver becomes rally vice-champion in two countries! It was a dream season!

15-year-old Hubert Laskowski, for whom the past season was supposed to be a year of learning rally driving techniques, ended the competition perfectly. The Peugeot 208 Rally4 driver boasts four vice-champion titles won in classes in Lithuania and Latvia.

The last round of the Baltic States Championship was the Aukštaitija Rally. To increase the prestige of the event, in addition to the combination of both series, a coefficient of 1.5 was applied in the Lithuanian championship, which multiplied the points scored. The teams competed in fourteen special sections totalling almost 130 kilometres.

As in previous rounds, Hubert Laskowski did a great job, co-driven by Adam Jaros. Despite driving more than half the rally without fourth gear, he finished second in both the junior and Rally4 car classes in both championship series. In addition, he finished fifth in the Lithuanian championship in the powerful 2WD class, in which cars with single-axle drive participate.

‘The last round of the Lithuanian and Latvian championship proved to be an extremely demanding test. The special sections required perfect preparation and description, so I am pleased that the test in both aspects went fantastically well. I tried not to think about the result and concentrated on doing my best in each section and gaining as much knowledge as I could. I more than fulfilled the task, so now I can safely say that it was a very successful rally,’ said Hubert Laskowski.

The achieved places also allowed us to celebrate great results at the end of the season! Hubert became the vice-champion of Lithuania in the junior class and in the Rally4 car class, which is extremely popular also in Poland. He was also vice-champion in the classes mentioned above in the Latvian championship. In addition, he was fifth in the Lithuanian 2WD class, in which over 50 crews competed throughout the year. Only three drivers in much more powerful BMWs and the Rally4 car class champion were classified ahead of the 15-year-old.

‘I am extremely happy with the results achieved. I won my first titles! And not one or two, but four at once! Of course, the excitement involved is huge, but I also know how much work still awaits me and what I need to do to get to the next level! There can only be one plan for the next few years. I want to be the best. As long as I keep that in mind, I’m going in the right direction and this season has shown that the whole team and I are heading in the right direction.
