Hubert Laskowski is champion again! The 16-year-old amazes!
30 August 2022Hubert Laskowski with his second crown, despite a bitter weekend!
13 October 2022Hubert Laskowski, who competed on the routes of Louna-Eesti Ralli in his last start and won the Latvian rally championship in his class, is preparing for his last appearance of the season. The 16-year-old driver will compete in a round of the Estonian championship, where even before the final battle on the Saaremaa Rally tracks, he mathematically secured the country’s championship. In order to seal the title, the young driver must appear on the stages.
Thanks to a victory in one of the rounds and two second-place finishes, Hubert Laskowski mathematically became the champion of Estonia in the EMV3 class even before the season ended. In the world, cars in the same category are used, among others, by juniors competing in the world championship. The lack of pressure of the result means that for Hubert and his pilot, Michał Kuśnierz, this will be a kind of round of honor, but nevertheless, they do not intend to let go and want to seal the championship crown with a bang.
“I am very happy that we managed to put everything together and we will be able to seal the second championship title this year together with Michał. The rally will certainly be very demanding. I have watched onboards from previous years and it promises to be very interesting. As many as 167 crews have signed up, which means that the competition will be extremely fierce. I am looking forward to this start. It’s been a while since my last appearance and I’ve missed my rally car. Unfortunately, the limited budget means that we won’t be able to complete testing and a test section before the start. I hope that we will do a perfect job on the familiarization with the route to catch the right pace from the first section,” Hubert said.
This year, the organizers have planned thirteen special stages with a total length of 134.56 kilometers. As a warm-up, the first stage will consist of three trials with lengths of over seventeen, nearly ten and less than two kilometers. Saturday’s part of the rally will consist of ten trials with a total length of over 100 kilometers. Among other things, the contestants will take the nearly 21-kilometer-long Undva stage twice.
“I am also very happy that Hubert and I will be able to start in this rally. The competition is incredibly big, so it will be all the more fierce. I hope we will dot the i’s and end the season on a high note. The stages on the Estonian island of Sarema are very fast and already resemble the real Finnish ones. It is from this island that WRC world champion Ott Tanak and current junior champion Robert Virves. We approach this start with all the more humility. We are aware that the local drivers in their own neighborhood will be really fast. We will consistently execute our plan, gather experience and try to drive at a good even pace,” added Michał Kuśnierz.
The partners of the young driver include Marten, Pirelli, Intertrade Logistics Limited, Jubi-Tom Jubiler Kobierzyce and Atech Racing Polska. The Car Speed Racing is responsible for the car’s servicing.
