Hubert Laskowski with his second crown, despite a bitter weekend!
13 October 2022Hubert Laskowski makes a triumphant return! Excellent performance in the European Championship round
21 June 2023Last seen on the rally tracks during the Saaremaa Rally last year, Hubert Laskowski returns to competition! The 17-year-old is set to take part in the Liepāja Rally, where he aims to demonstrate his place amongst the top young drivers in Europe.
The Latvian and Estonian Class 3 Champion, who races in four-wheel-drive vehicles, will be behind the wheel of his trusty Ford Fiesta Rally 3. He’ll be pitted against rivals such as Jon Armstrong, a recognised competitor in the world junior championships. It’s worth mentioning that this won’t be Hubert’s first encounter with a rally car this year. M-Sport acknowledged the Pole’s talent and skills by inviting him several times for development tests of its cars – an opportunity only offered to the world’s best drivers.
“The Liepāja Rally will undoubtedly be a challenging race,” Hubert said. “95% of the route set out for this year is entirely new. Only a handful of segments are from previous years. The competition is fierce, including Jon Armstrong, Paulo Soria, Piotr Parys, and Kuba Matulka among others. Beating them won’t be a walk in the park, but Michał Kuśnierz and I will undoubtedly do our utmost to secure the top spot. The rally is extensive, so anything can happen, but I’m optimistic,” Hubert Laskowski declared.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Hubert’s right-hand seat after a long hiatus,” Michał Kuśnierz added. “We’re back competing in a familiar rally, albeit the route is entirely new this year, and the class competition is intense. It won’t be a breeze, with minor differences potentially between segments, but we’re optimistic. We’ve completed a short test and are well prepared. Please cheer us on this weekend!,” Michał Kuśnierz added.
The organisers have prepared ten special sections for this year’s event, totalling a staggering 183.89 km. Competitors will twice run the event’s longest section, the over 27.5km-long Tukums, right at the start of the competition. Saturday’s schedule includes the Talsi (8.50 km), Ivande (26.02 km), Snepele (14.63 km), and a super section on the streets of Liepāja, covering just over 2.5 km. Sunday comprises two repeated sections, with the loop formed by the Liepieni (19.59 km) and Krogzemji (18.95 km) segments. The winners will be announced at roughly 15:30.
Pirelli, Intertrade Logistics Limited, Jubi-Tom Jubiler Kobierzyce, Atech Racing Polska, and M-Sport Polska support the young driver. CarSpeed Racing handles the vehicle servicing. Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Pirelli Poland have also contributed support.
As of the Liepāja Rally, scrap metal recycling company ELBRO has joined the partnership roster. Live coverage of the rally is available on Motovision, who have taken the team under its media patronage.
