The sixteen-year-old Hubert Laskowski, for whom the former season was intended to be an introduction to the rally crafts, had a perfect run in the special stages and he and his team decided to take the next career step. Over the weekend, the Latvia and Lithuania Junior Runner-Up will start another battle behind the wheel of a four-wheel drive car!
After a perfect season behind the wheel of a two-wheel drive car, Hubert and his team are implementing a long-term plan to set him up to battle the best drivers in the world. According to the assumptions, the drive will compete in the 2022 season behind the wheel of a four-wheel drive car. Hubert’s rallying weapon will be a Ford Fiesta Rally3 from the Polish M-Sport division. Moreover, the new car will be used in the Junior World Championship from this season. This means that the experience gained this year will undoubtedly be beneficial in more prestigious competitions in the future.
– We are facing a completely new season. According to the assumptions, we are changing the car this season and decided to choose the four-wheel drive Ford Fiesta Rally3. Its design is new to me. The four-wheel drive is definitely different from the Peugeot 208 Rally4 I used before. I was already able to drive the Fiesta Rally3 but only on asphalt, so I will have to learn a lot on loose surfaces – Hubert said.
– We already conducted short tests of around three hundred kilometres. I am very impressed by the car. At the beginning I was afraid that it will lack power but the fear was gone fast. I was surprised by how easy it is to drive. It turns, brakes and does everything the way it should – he added.
Hubert will start his rally rivalry with the Latvian Rallijs Sarma. The event is a combined round of the Latvian and Estonian championships. The drivers will face six special sections with a total distance of 88.44 km. The biggest challenge will be the section concluding the first loop and entire rally of approx. eighteen kilometres.
– Rallijs Sarma is a perfect start of the season for us. The winter event is a huge challenge but driving between snow bands will enable us to check the car’s capabilities and adapt more quickly to the new design. When taking a look at the submissions list, we can expect great competition. Along with Michał Kuśnierz, who will be my pilot this year, we will do everything to satisfy our fans – Hubert commented.
Hubert will have three rivals in the Estonian Championships, including the current ERC2 Runner-Up. In the Latvian Championships, the sixteen-year-old will compete with six rivals. Hubert will also battle in rally sprints as part of the Latvian Championships, with a total of twenty teams.
The sponsors of the young driver include Marten, Pirelli, Intertrade Logistics Limited, Jubi-Tom Jubiler Kobierzyce and Atech Racing Polska. The Car Speed Racing will be responsible for the car’s servicing.
